Have you been to Davao City Hall lately? I brought my graders here a week ago, they’ve been whining to see the tree stars up close, it was an instantaneous decision so I wasn’t able to tuck in a decent camera, I took this photo with my CH W-900, and quiet a decent shot considering it only has a 5MP camera.

I really wish one Christmas in the coming years; this city can come up with an awesome Christmas village with brilliant and sparkling display of myriad lights. Considering that we banned fireworks in the city, then this could be, I hope, a splendid and merry alternative. If you have time, you can bring the kids around they’d love it here.

Three days more and it’ll be Christmas, I can really feel the spirit as everyone around is cramming, prepping  for Christmas eve - shopping, traffic, long queues at the counters – that if one doesn’t have an inkling of what’s this culture is all about would think, gosh isn’t there tomorrow? But this is how this season should be –  rush!

Well, this household choose not to get stressed this Christmas, Oh, well we always do this every year, we just order food, pick it up an hour before Christmas and we’re good.

As always there’s a bustling economy during this season, but did you know the top ten reasons holiday makers overspend? Here's a good infographic that'll give you an idea where earthlings overspend, and I'm guilty of the first one!

Top 10 Reasons holiday makers overspend Infographic

Globe Telecom recently announced that it has complete the modernization of its major infrastructures in the Davao region and key areas in Mindanao, forming a significant part of the rollout of its brand new network and intensifying mobile services in the vast regions which include Zamboanga and Misamis.

Chief Technical Adviser of Globe Robert Tan affirmed that the network build of Globe in Davao and its nearby areas is currently bringing-in better mobile coverage, increased data speeds and better network reliability in that part of the country, noting that ‘in terms of service quality after the upgrade, our call set-up rate improved dramatically. Now, a call you make in Davao consistently gets connected at even first try.”

He confirmed that Davao City and adjacent provinces are now fully equipped with new generation mobile systems capable of supporting fourth-generation Evolved High-Speed Packet Access or 4G HSPA+.

“In Mindanao, completed HSPA+ cell sites include Tipo-tipo in Basilan; Cabangsalan, Impasug-ong, Malaybalay and Sumilao in Bukidnon; Don Victoriano Chiongbian in Misamis Occidental; Norala and Santo Nino in South Cotabato; Bagumbayan, Columbio, Isulan, President Quirino and Tacurong in Sultan Kudarat; the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Sur; Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental as well as the whole Compostela Valley. These comprise over 4,000 Globe cell sites already swapped with the newest, best-in-class infrastructure, while simultaneulsy increasing 4G HSPA+ footprint,” Tan said.

Globe President and CEO Ernest Co himself confirmed the enhanced network service, particularly in streaming data: “For those who have been following me in social media, I have a pleasant experience of visiting Davao which has now been modernized. I achieved speed up to 5 mbps in that network almost constantly.”

The Davao region also was the first to have the rollout of fiber optic cable which will significantly increase capacity and resiliency to accommodate and protect more voice, SMS and data traffic. Cu likewise confirmed that very soon, Davao will join Manila, Cebu and other ultra-connected cities in the world by experiencing LTE with the service’s quick expansion in the premier city of the South.

He previously stated that this undertaking is “unprecedented and unmatched by any other similar efforts in the country, which are merely adding-on to existing structures. The nationwide effort by Globe is a more deliberate and authentic change, empowering each of our subscribers, right here and right now in Davao, and very soon, with the rest of the country,” adding that Davaoenos and their immediate neighbors, who comprise the most populous region in Mindanao, are now more empowered to enjoy vastly-improved services, enabling them with much improved call quality, instantaneous text messaging capabilities, as well as richer, fuller web browsing experience.

The province of Sulu, the City of Surigao and Butuan are earmarked for modernization to the new Globe network for the fourth quarter of 2012. Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur is set to follow suit for the first quarter of 2012.

We live near SM Lanang, but the irony of it all we hardly visit this place unless of course if there are important errands around here. The kids has been whining about watching the dancing the fountain, so on Saturday off we go. They're having hourly evening show on weekend so it's so convenient, unless it'll rain, the fountain court area is actually best for leisure walking after eating.

I've catched a video of the almost 10-minute fountain show, here enjoy; for better video quality shift to 360p.

Davao’s homegrown hip-hop dance talent, GROOVE UNLIMITED has made it to international stint and now gearing up to bag the crown in the World Supremacy Battlegrounds, the biggest international hip-hop dance competition happening in Sydney, Australia on November 30-Dec 2, 2012.

I’ve seen these guys perform on television, my son is an avid fan of hip-hop dance and these guys as well, but I really didn’t realize they were this authority in street dancing not until my son saw the video I uploaded at Youtube which I filmed during the ‘JAZ GRV Anniversary Dance Concert’ on November 10 at CAP Auditorium here in Davao City and without me knowing storm his whole class about it.

The ‘JAZ GRV Anniversary Dance Concert’ was held to raise funds and help send GROOVE UNLIMITED to Sydney to compete to World Supremacy Battlegrounds. I really enjoyed the show. I think all of Davao’s hip-hop dance groups were there to support and made that dance concert a success, some members in fact where those children that were once in conflict with the law and now finding a __niche in hip-hop dancing.

I’ve been to concerts before, celebrities on stage, musicals, recitals, stage plays but theirs was one of the touching hip-hop dance concerts I’ve been to. Just like many groups, conflicts are inevitable – different schedules, different lifestyles, different views, different personalities but what’s amazing is that they rise above their weaknesses and brought the group to limelight and now has made it to international competitions like WSB. I almost cried when Bryan Grandeza, the crew leader, they him master by the way, cried while telling the audience how he fathered the group and how  each one of them find a family and support from each other, it wasn’t just a dance for them but a group that made each one of them a better person. Bryan also talked about how they’ve exhausted all possible means just to put up funds so all of the crew listed in the official invitation can come and represent the Philippines to the world’s largest hip-hop battle.

They need our support guys – prayers, moral support and financially especially - their success is also our success. You can contact Bryan Grandeza at You can also like their FB page – Groove Unlimited Dance Community for more details.

I took this video during their Dance Anniversary Concert on November 10 at CAP Auditorium here in Davao City.

It also has spacious parking space and the most awesome of all, IMAX is in here, can't wait to watch.

Hi peeps, the next time you're in Davao, drop by Davao's newest shopping destination - SM Lanang Premier!

Whatever your reason for sniffing out a holiday bargain - whether it’s because you’re trying to stretch your budget to yet another holiday this year, or you’re just feeling the pinch and need to spend as little as possible - there are plenty of great deals out there to satiate your needs.

As savvy  web-users  know,  one  of  the  best ways  to  book  holidays  and  save money is by  booking online. This allows browsers to  weigh  up all the options and compare  stacks of  holidays online - even comparing the same holiday across different tour operators - to find the cheapest prices.

Plus, when tourists book cheap holidays online they can take advantage of brand new offers or just-released deals. This might be a fresh new offer on late deals or incentives for next summer’s holidays.

Speaking of late deals, this is certainly one of the most popular ways to bag a cheap holiday. Where package holidays are concerned, tourists that book just a couple of weeks prior to the departure date can usually secure huge savings. What’s more, package holiday operators are two-a-penny which means that competition is rife in the market. You can find holiday deals from Direct Holidays and other such well-establihed tour operators all year round, which certainly helps to make things that little bit easier.

If you don’t fancy a package holiday, there are plenty of low-cost scheduled flights available to destinations all over the world. These are best booked well in advance - typically up to six months or more - as this is when you’ll have the best choice of cheap seats. After that, the prices are hiked and that cheap deal you were hoping for suddenly becomes an eye-watering expense! So, do your homework, put your planner’s hat on and get organised - the results will speak for themselves.

SM Cinema, the country’s leading film exhibitor, continues its quest to elevate this country’s cinematic experience by bringing in state-of-the-art theater technology. Introducing the IMAX Experience to the Filipinos is one of SM Cinema’s ways of delivering world-class quality entertainment.

One of the highlights in the opening of SM Lanang Premier is the opening of the IMAX Theatre.IMAX Lanangopens with 467 seats and a digital projection system that can support both 2D and 3D films.

IMAX is the world’s leading film entertainment technology. It utilizes laser-aligned digital audio feed in addition to a revolutionary projection system that enhances image quality and display, delivering unparalleled and realistic sound and visuals.

IMAX is more than a technology; it is an experience. The IMAX Theatre is designed to fill your field of visionand engulf you in sound so powerful that it is almost tangible. IMAX screen is several times larger than the screen of the standard theater, delivering an image so large that it fills your entire field of view. The screen is slightly curved and the seats are angled to allow audience to have an unobstructed view of what they are watching. The IMAX image is several times larger than any other cinema format, offering far greater resolution than the 35mm film. All these contribute to bringing images to life like no other—making you feel you are part of the movie and not just a mere spectator.

The immersive movie-viewing experience that IMAX brings is made possible by IMAX Digital Media Remastering (DMR), the transformative process used to enhance and optimize the image and sound of Hollywood feature films for the IMAX format. During this process, IMAX spends hours, weeks and months working directly with the filmmakers and technical teams of each film on dozens of ways to enhance the movie, including adjusting the saturation, contrast, brightness, re-mixing the soundtrack, and a bunch of other variables in virtually every frame.

The result delivers an unparalleled image and sound quality that is designed specifically for IMAX theatres. Watching a film in an IMAX Theatre gives you a unique experience; it allows you to lose yourself in the scenes unfolding before you. With IMAX, you are absorbed by the movie.

Through SM Cinema, Filipinos are able to enjoy the IMAX Experience--an experience that takes you beyond the edge of your seats to a world you have never imagined.

My gawd... as all these happening all at the same time, I think, I really do, lol, it's just too much for a woman, with three schooling kids, having class at night, doing mama job and blogging on the side - to chew.

However hard as a knee bone, I really have to find time grabbing some freebies around, especially when it's movies.

Guys, here are some free stuff you can enjoy with your family this Kadayawan. These movies will be screened at Cinematheque at J. Palma Gil St., on these schedules. ENJOY!

Travelers at heart love exploring different destinations. Although some people visit other countries first before their own, it is good to visit one’s own place of origin first. There are some pretty good places to visit too that can only be found in their own country. Know your own country first so that when you travel abroad you can promote it to foreigners and entice them to visit where you came from.

Tips in travelling locally;
  • Check the travel magazines or TV shows on their features for top local destinations.
  • Visit not only touristy spots but also those that are lesser known.
  • Know if you want to visit the beach or the mountains so you can get a head start on where you will plan your next destination.
  • Choose cheap flights or accommodation. Check different airlines, hotels or travel agencies for promotions so you can save up. If you know people living in that place then stay with them so you don’t have to spend money on accommodation and instead use it for other things during your travel.
  • Try also couch-surfing where locals host travelers for a lower price. Try out the local delicacies by eating at restaurants that are homegrown. Leave eating at food chains found in your city to truly immerse yourself in the destination you are visiting.
  • Know the locals and ask them to teach you a thing or two about their traditions and culture. You can share these to your family and friends when you go home.
  • Go during festivals so you can witness different dances or music of the locals. It is a good way also to try their local cuisines.
  • Purchase from the souvenir shops so you can help the locals earn money.
  • Take a lot of pictures or videos so you can relive the good times you had during your vacation when you look at or watch them.

Opening  and  operating  a  business  can  be  easy  but  making  it  thrive  and  last  for  a  long time  can  be a  very  challenging  responsibility.  Aside  from  proper  planning,  consistency,  hiring  the  best  people  and  having  a  clear  business  vision;  another  important  aspect  of  keeping  the  business  afloat  is to  know what kind of market a certain business have. Conducting surveys by utilizing the best online survey software could greatly help in having a clearer perspective of the target markets’ profile.

Choosing the best online survey software is a daunting task especially if you do not know what to expect from it. Several aspects like ability to create multiple questions, conduct customer service research that deals with overall satisfaction with the service attributes and acceptability of each product are some of very essential elements in survey software. There can be a lot of different methods in conducting customer surveys and regardless of the tool and procedure,  the most significant is getting the needed result to be able to come up with helpful strategies and decision.

Among the business industries in the world today, the area of travel and tourism has one of the most diverse market or customers. It is diverse in the sense that travelers came from all walks of life, with varying preferences on food, service, and lifestyle. Knowing their specific choice when it comes to products and customer service needs thorough and deep research as customers in this sector are most of the time hard to please and with high expectations.

Due  the  stiff competition in  the business  industry,  customers’  demand  for  greater services  is  increasing  and more and more of them have higher standards. To be able to know and pinpoint the market’s specific preference, customer satisfaction surveys are usually conducted.

Conceptualizing the most effective customer survey tool is a critical process.  Combined efforts should be focused on reaching and getting the needed information to be able to capture and serve the target market efficiently.

Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

But on this path, you will never go wrong, especially when you need time to talk to yourself and need not to go far, drive your way to Yuhico Garden, it’s along Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City.

Today’s forecast!

It’s mercury rising in the city today, we’re experiencing full and bright sunshine, though it’s dang hot in here, there’s so much to be thankful for, including my sweat dripping on my forehead.

Anybody who walks the streets of Rome or any other city in Italy cannot fail to be stunned or overwhelmed by its spectacular architecture. In reality, countless individuals have declared that Rome is the most attractive city in the world - a declaration that is very hard to refuse.

The Coliseum, for instance, is actually one of the most extraordinary structures in the entire country. As the biggest amphitheater ever made by the Romans, the Coliseum hosted several gladiatorial combats and was initially capable of seating more than 50,000 spectators. Currently, tourists can go back into the past and stroll within its walls as audience did in 80AD.

Another masterpiece of architecture to be explored in the city is the spectacular Piazza del Campidoglio that was designed by Michelangelo Buonarroti. It is a good example of the structural design that signifies Rome's dominance as a world hub of the Renaissance. Though, there are other extravagant squares to and visit on city breaks in Italy which include Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Venezia.

Landscape of beautiful Tuscany

Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Trevi Fountain - an amazing structural masterpiece - is a fantastic example of decorative art, as is the Palazzo Madama that now houses the Italian Senate. This impressive style is also there in the Piazza di Spagna that holds the impressive Barcaccia Fountain and the amazing Spanish Steps - made popular in the Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck film, Roman Holiday.

Rome is also a home to several neoclassic-style structures; the most prominent one is the Monument of Vittorio Emanuele II that represents 650,000 Italians who actually fell in disagreement during World War I. Another magnificent architectural showpiece is The Pantheon. The name is taken from the Greek phrase denoting 'Temple of all the Gods' and was initially made as a sanctuary to the 7 gods in the state of ancient Rome. So Rome can be a good place to visit while on city breaks in Italy.

I was at a gas station fronting this building in Cabaguio Ave. some days back and while waiting for the pump boys to finish their stuff, I spotted this banner at the adjacent building ... no offense meant to the owner but I really had a hearty laugh out loud on this one ...

It’s just that I’m used to signages that says ... this building is for sale ... probably my orientation is bent towards pro-motion and here comes the total opposite. The bus boy said, that the owner got irritated by the persistent would-be buyers and he really is not intending to sell this property – so, I actually find this strategy  very logical, rather than individually explaining might as well put up something there to keep everyone informed that – hey I’m not selling this building including the umbrella. Cool!
