Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Anybody who walks the streets of Rome or any other city in Italy cannot fail to be stunned or overwhelmed by its spectacular architecture. In reality, countless individuals have declared that Rome is the most attractive city in the world - a declaration that is very hard to refuse.

The Coliseum, for instance, is actually one of the most extraordinary structures in the entire country. As the biggest amphitheater ever made by the Romans, the Coliseum hosted several gladiatorial combats and was initially capable of seating more than 50,000 spectators. Currently, tourists can go back into the past and stroll within its walls as audience did in 80AD.

Another masterpiece of architecture to be explored in the city is the spectacular Piazza del Campidoglio that was designed by Michelangelo Buonarroti. It is a good example of the structural design that signifies Rome's dominance as a world hub of the Renaissance. Though, there are other extravagant squares to and visit on city breaks in Italy which include Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Venezia.

Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Trevi Fountain - an amazing structural masterpiece - is a fantastic example of decorative art, as is the Palazzo Madama that now houses the Italian Senate. This impressive style is also there in the Piazza di Spagna that holds the impressive Barcaccia Fountain and the amazing Spanish Steps - made popular in the Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck film, Roman Holiday.

Rome is also a home to several neoclassic-style structures; the most prominent one is the Monument of Vittorio Emanuele II that represents 650,000 Italians who actually fell in disagreement during World War I. Another magnificent architectural showpiece is The Pantheon. The name is taken from the Greek phrase denoting 'Temple of all the Gods' and was initially made as a sanctuary to the 7 gods in the state of ancient Rome. So Rome can be a good place to visit while on city breaks in Italy.
